Critics’ Week celebrates 60 years of cinema
Founded in 1962, Critics’ Week (La Semaine de la Critique) is the parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival dedicated to first and second films, a historic stepping stone for many filmmakers before they became global names. For its 60th anniversary, I directed and edited a series of films titled “60 ans d’avenirs” (60 Years of Futures): interviews with filmmakers discovered by the festival (Arnaud Desplechin, Julia Ducournau, Justine Triet, Jacques Audiard, Hafsia Herzi, Jean-Bernard Marlin…), personal letters addressed to Critics’ Week, annotated shots looking back at a key scene from their filmography, and animated reviews of cult films from its selection, the latter made in partnership with EnsAD. In total, 75 films make up this collection that traces six decades of discoveries.
